Services
For nearly 50 years, Universal Window and Door has provided architects, general contractors and developers of Historic Buildings with high-quality, technologically-advanced custom window solutions.
We design and manufacture all of our products at our Marlborough, MA facility, thus ensuring enhanced quality control standards as well as providing flexibility to meet customer requests.
Our award-winning line of historic windows are designed to meet the stringent requirements for buildings listed on the National Park Service National Register of Historic Places while also significantly increasing energy efficiency via the use of TrueWARM warm-edge technology.
The Universal Window and Door 700 Series Historic Steel Replica windows are the ideal choice for historic buildings, featuring a narrow sightline that replicates the original putty glazed steel or wood windows to meet the exacting standards of historic commissions while keeping the structural integrity of the window intact.
The 700 Series has been installed in dozens of projects that have been recognized by the National Park Service National Register of Historic Places as well as numerous state and local historic preservation entities.
Universal Window and Door has been providing historically accurate windows for architects and developers for the adaptive re-use of historic structures for nearly fifty years.
Our 400 and 700 Series windows are designed to meet the exacting standards of the National Park Service National Register of Historic Places as well as numerous state and local historic preservation entities.
By working closely with designers and historic societies, our custom manufacturing process allows us to produce historically accurate windows that restore the unique character of the original design while simultaneously improving the energy efficiency with our state of the art window technology.
The Universal Window and Door Projected/Casement 600 Series windows are designed to move away, or "project" from the plane of the window frame (much like a door), and can be either in-swinging or out-swinging from the casement vents.
Casement windows operate on a vertical axis while projected windows open and close horizontally (windows hinged at the top are referred to as awning windows, and ones hinged at the bottom are called hoppers).
They may be opened and closed by hand or by use of a hand crank.
Universal Window and Door offers the double hung option (consisting of two sashes, both of which move up and down) with our 400 and 550 Series, which utilizes a complete thermal break sash and master frame for optimal insulating value.
All operable double hung sashes feature marine glazing, which protects the glass edge and assures easy repairs.
The anti-creep lock on the top sash creates stability for worry-free operation and our optional auto-lock sill adds security and ease of use.
