Open Door Health
We were inspired to create this clinic after many community members noted lack of primary care and other preventative and sexual health services for the LGBTQ+ population. We draw on our experiences in providing sexual health and have also brought together many medical and public health leaders across the state to create Open Door Health, with a focus on filling unmet need for primary care and sexual health services.

Our goal is to provide cutting-edge medical care in a respectful, accepting, and affirming manner. The clinic was built from the ground up with these principles in mind, and community partners have been involved at every step along the way. We actively listen to our patients and do the best we can to address the needs and concerns of the community.

The Open Door Health (ODH) Community Advisory Board (CAB) will facilitate multidirectional communication among community members, community resources and organizations, and ODH leadership and staff. The CAB is an advisory body that assist Open Door Health with promotion, partnerships, and the establishment and maintenance of clinical programs and services that are responsive to the health needs of our community.
Services
Our goal is to provide consent-based, individualized care, and we work hard to make sure our space, our services, and our providers reflect that goal.
Our providers have significant experience with preventative health as well as managing a wide array of chronic diseases.
We treat everyone equally and with respect.
For individuals who require specialized care, Open Door Health will work to ensure referral and coordination with providers who have experience taking care of members of the LGBTQ+ community and are also at the forefront of their respective fields of medical care.
These services include express HIV and STI screening, preventative HIV treatment (PrEP), and HIV care and treatment.
Screening for HIV/STIs includes collecting your own specimens and having your blood drawn.
Open Door Health provides cutting edge STI services and adheres to current clinical recommendations.
This may include having you swab your own throat and/or rectum for STIs.
If needed, a medical provider will be available to answer any questions or provide treatment.
We understand the STIs are a sensitive and important issue.
We know everyone's experiences are different and strive to provide individually-tailored services for all.
Our providers are trained in gender affirmation and sharing information is central to our informed consent model.
All of our reproductive and primary care services account for the variety of identities, bodies, and experiences by providers trained in gender care.
Here at Open Door Health, we offer primary care and specialty services for patients twelve and older.
This includes annual well-visits, vaccinations, acute care visits, sexual wellness, mental health, gender affirming care and STI education, testing and treatment.
Everyone deserves access to compassionate, patient-centered and confidential care.
Under Rhode Island law, all care related to the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases is confidential.
This means we are able to provide testing and treatment for STIs without parental consent.
We are now offering our primary care, HIV care, PrEP/PEP, STI screening, and gender care services using telemedicine.
Our telemedicine services aim to make healthcare more accessible to everyone in Rhode Island, particularly those who are unable to attend their appointments at our clinical offices in person.
Please consider completing a short survey to tell us your thoughts about telemedicine so we can best direct our efforts to continue providing you and all our patients with comprehensive, quality care.
