Dr. Door is a locally owned and operated onsite exterior, interior, and garage door refinishing business specializing in wood and fiberglass doors. I take great pride in my abilities and treat each door not as if it were my own, but as if it were my Mother's. I work to ensure that every client is totally satisfied with the end result. After all, most of my jobs come from referrals and return customers.
My success is a direct reflection of my dedication to quality craftsmanship. Prior to being Dr. Door I was a graphic designer. While I enjoyed the creativity, working on a computer just never gave me the same satisfaction as wood working does. I enjoy seeing the total transformation that a newly refinished door can create for a home's curb appeal.

Services
I remove the hardware from the door and the door from the jamb.
I move it to a set of padded saw horses, usually in a garage or some covered area on site.
A covered area is recommend so that direct sunlight will not affect the refinishing process.
I typically cover the exposed entryway with a tarp (if you have pets it would be best to keep them away from this area).
Once I am satisfied this step 2 I begin the sanding procedure.
Most of this is done by hand as I prefer those results.
The different stages of sanding depend on the color the customer has chosen and the wood grain pattern of the door.

As a homeowner-turned-remote-property-manager, I value the guidance and opinion of folks that have seen most everything in their line of work. Recently, Clay consulted me on what to do with my water-logged front door, given the high replacement $$ I was quoted by another company in the area. Even though Clay was busy, he spent time on the phone to provide me options in a way that was personable and authentic, and while I won't be directly doing business with him, he provided a referral to a door painter in the area that can help with our unfinished door.
Appreciate the guidance, Clay!

I recently had my wooden front door and courtyard gate re-finished by ANOTHER COMPANY. Front door was done well; however, the gate is an absolute disaster (review to come soon).
My wooden-faced garage doors were up for a face-lift as well, and there was no way I was going to use the OTHER company...enter Dr. Door!
Dr. Door, a.k.a. Clay, responded to my estimate request at warp speed. His prices are significantly less than other bids I have received. And, despite all of the ATX rain and his super busy schedule, he managed to fit me into the timeline I requested.
As can be seen by other reviews, Clay does STELLAR work on front doors...and YES, garage doors as well. And he only uses the BEST products on the market. If a contractor wants you to buy stain from one of the "big" stores (e.g., HD or L's), I would suggest walking away from him or her.
I simply cannot say enough good things about Dr. Door's work or customer service.
He aims to please...and he succeeds. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thanks again Clay! Now my go to guy for all things stained.

Used YELP reviews to get a referral for door refinishing and refurbishing and decided on DR. Door with Clay Aloy. What a great referral...thank you.
Dr. Door showed up when he said he would and did an excellent job for us.
Would absolutely refer and use him again. Even sent a referral suggestion for Dr Door to our HOA rep.
Refinished our front door, placed new weather stripping, and adjusted every door we even hinted was an issue. His great demeanor makes you very comfortable with him. How nice is that when you have that level of comfort when someone is in your home and you are older....he tells you what he can do and what you might need to replace or do some other way. Priced very reasonably.
No issues whatsoever with this referral....give Dr Door an opportunity to help you and your doors.
