Founded in 1990 by a formerly homeless young woman, Green Doors' mission is to prevent and help end homelessness and poverty housing for those working to achieve independent living in Central Texas. These are real families and individuals who have faced homelessness in the Austin area. Green Doors' goal is to return residents to self-sufficiency through stable housing, individualized case management and self-sufficiency programs.
Explore our site to learn how you can help break the cycle of homelessness! For the last several years, Green Doors has been focused diligently on providing clean, safe and quality affordable housing for our residents at Treaty Oaks. Scott Clapper knows a thing or two about hard work. A resident of Green Doors for nearly four years, Scott worked for more than 30 years in factories.
He made shoes, garments, computer components, you name it. As he put it, he punched a clock. But he was never late and he never complained. I learned in my time there, that a shelter cannot be a home, and what these men needed most was permanent supportive housing.
