The Open Door Community Alliance, Inc. is a 501 ( c ) 3, not for profit, health care coalition. It is located at Franciscan Health North Campus, 301 W. Homer St., Michigan City. It is governed by a board of directors of volunteers. The mission of the Open Door Community Alliance, Inc. is to provide access to quality health services and education to citizens who are uninsured or under-insured and have no other financial means.
Services
In 1989 we opened as a full-service medical concern called the Open Door Health Center.
Seeing a need in the community, in 1997 the Open Door Adolescent Center was established at the high school.
In 2008 HealthLinc took over the physician services but Open Door continued to provide medications and co-pays for the indigent.
Then in 2013 the Open Door partnered with the Physician Community Alliance and representatives of St. Anthony Hospital (now Franciscan Health) to create the Open Door Community Alliance.

One time medication voucher to Franciscan Health Outpatient Pharmacy or another local pharmacy for acute illness, dental emergency, or at hospital discharge.
If ongoing medications are needed, ODCA will help find a PAP and assist with patient enrollment.
Physicians must pre-approve and provide a script for the medication.
In some cases, ODCA will provide a voucher to a local phamacy to fill the gap until the first PAP shipment arrives.
