Sometimes we get in a place in life where it's hard to find our way out. We get discouraged and feel helpless when all we need is a little direction and a helping hand. Living in a difficult situation can also lead to dysfunctional relationships, domestic violence, and child abuse. Open Doors is here to help by providing the resources needed to assist families in finding lasting solutions to poverty, attain self-reliance, and prevent abuse.

At Open Doors, we help others on their journey to their best selves by inviting them to participate-to open the door for others who are carrying heavy loads. Open Doors' purpose is to promote self-sufficiency and strengthen families rather than replace personal responsibility. We will always strive to eradicate abuse and poverty, establishing instead strong family relationships and a sense of self-reliance.

By providing services and resources to families in need, we are working to strengthen the community as a whole, just like we always have and always will.
Services
In 1982 a little white house was being used as a respite care nursery.
Due to the ever-growing needs of low-income families in Clearfield, the nursery expanded into a small food bank then growing into storage units behind the house.
The nursery moved to our current location and our food bank kept expanding until we purchased our Community Action Building located at 875 East Hwy.
193 in Layton.
Since we began serving low-income families, we took on the Community Action philosophy of helping people overcome poverty, not just by giving them food or clothing, but by helping them see the people they are and how important they are to our community.
At Open Doors, we strive to help those who don't see other options.
We have several programs available to help adults improve their situations and prepare their children to avoid similar circumstances as they get older.
By providing these programs to adults and families with or without children, Open Doors staff works to reduce child abuse, neglect, and family stress.
In partnership with Circles, we offer a 12-week course to help low-income families and individuals develop critical self-sufficiency skills.
If you're unable to give time, we encourage you to help support our services through a small donation.
Every dollar counts, and each will do nothing less than change someone's life.

In partnership with Circles, we offer a 12-week class aimed at helping low-income individuals break the cycle of poverty.
Circles create a new circle of peers, allies, and support that helps people to revolutionize themselves, strengthen their families, and overcome the barriers of poverty.
After 12 weeks, participants graduate, match with peer mentors, and train in different business and trade fields to help them continue to grow.
We love community donations!
If you or someone you know would like to donate food, dessert, or water for our weekly dinner meetings, please reach out to us!
