The Gardners started serving Van Wert and the surrounding area in 1935 with the opening of Gardner Lumber Company in Ohio City, Ohio. Gregg Gardner was the president of the Lumberyard in 1962, and decided to go into the residential remodeling business. After graduation, his son, Aaron, joined him in 1978, and the company became Gardner's Home Improvement
