This window is one of a pair in entry doors to a church.
It had several broken panels and matching color and glass were essential to restoring the set.
Stained glass artist Bob Zakas and Alayna Kyle were commissioned by developer Ken Crisp to totally restore all the stained glass in the First Congregational Church in Chattanooga.
The Lyndhurst Foundation along with the River City Company and Cornerstones provided financing for the project.
The church located at the corner of M.L. King Boulevard and Lindsay Street in Chattanooga, Tennessee is under way to apply for a National Historic Register designation.
The stained glass windows were installed in the 1920's and after over 80 years have bore the full brunt of nature's seasons.
By 2007, every stained glass panel had distorted from their original shape and had missing and broken individual pieces of glass.
In early 2006, developer Ken Crisp purchased the property, and with financial help from the Lyndhurst Foundation, RiverCity Company, and Cornerstones, commissioned stained glass artist Bob Zakas to totally restore all the stained glass in the church.
Below are examples of simple and affordable windows in average size churches.
All of these stained glass panels were constructed as part of renovation work in the churches and installed over the existing windows to minimize cost.
The window to the right is one of a set of eight panels built to match existing windows in a church expansion.
This is an image of Saint Michael the Archangel, with an inscription in Latin surrounded by a serpent.
The inscription translates to the beginning of the prayer to Saint Micheal.
All of the examples in our stained glass window art gallery had their start as an idea from a customer.
Sketches were then made to work out design details and then a full-sized, hand drawn working pattern was made to our client's specifications.
We build unique, traditional leaded glass works of art and we are dedicated to providing each client with a "one of a kind" experience.
Stained Glass Windows is located in Signal Mountain, Tennessee - just outside of Chattanooga.
However, since our services are all custom designed, our process does not HAVE to originate or even end in Tennessee.
Our design process includes an initial consultation and most of our craftsmanship can be accomplished by email or fax alone.
And naturally, we will furnish you with references upon request.
Our work is priced by the square foot.
Factors to cost are; complexity of design, type of glass and other materials used, and of course the overall size of the project.
